CPD Opportunities

PE subject lead has set up new assessment tool progression alongside other SEN PE specialists

Kay has delivered PE CPD to whole school staff 4 times this year.  This includes fit for life training - a new programme running in school supported by government to improve health and fitness.  Kay has also delivered team up training alongside Sedgefield SSP, discussing qualities of our team and work life balance.

OPAL

All pupils now benefit from active playtimes.  Pupils have a large store cupboard full of random play equipment, which staff support pupils in using to create imaginative games.  The pupils are more engaged in play and social situations.  Co-ordinated by Kelly Dickinson, classes rotate setting up activities for pupils to engage in outside.

Competitions and Festivals entered

The school has competed in 14 events this year.  This is the highest number of events we have attended in the last 6 years.  All classes have said these have been positive experiences and that children have benefitted from attending these events.

Impact of Apprentice

TA – “Aidan has been a fantastic support to our class.   He is knowledgeable of both the sport and the pupils’ needs.  He has been especially helpful with hydro this term.  The pupils all love working with Aidan and look forward to working with him.”

Lunchtime / Afterschool Club Provision

Attendance is very good, and pupils are enthusiastic to attend the sessions.  A new after school cricket session has begun by Apprentice Aidan showing popular.  Lunch time clubs run daily and provide our high achievers to access team games, fitness challenges and new sporting opportunities.

Impact of Curriculum Coaching Support

Enhanced SLA allows specialist coaches to come and deliver support to teachers in implementing new programmes of study.  Pupils are excited and engaged in their learning.  Pupils have shown an improvement in attainment.

Sedgefield School Sports Partnership

Excellent provision of specialist coaching given by SSP has resulted in a boosted breadth of study.  Annual PE health checks help our school to keep on track with improving our subject and support targets on the school improvement plan.
