Approach to EYFS

Early Years Foundation Stage

There are currently 25 children in our department across three classes; Blue One and Blue Two are for the reception aged children and Blue Three is for the nursery aged children.
To find out more about the individual classes follow the links below to navigate to the corresponding class.

We follow a topic-based, cross-curricular approach centred on the EYFS curriculum/Early Years Outcomes, encouraging the children to be active learners. The children are encouraged through play and exploration to develop the skills that form a strong foundation for their future learning. This is supported with the provision of focused and differentiated activities, carefully planned and resourced continuous provision and a range of real life experiences through educational visits and visitors in school.

The four themes of the EYFS are:

EYFS Themes

These themes underpin our approach to each child’s learning and development and they are delivered through The Characteristics of Effective Learning and the 7 areas of learning and development.

Tapestry is an on-line learning journal. It is used to record the children's learning and creates a two way communication between the EYFS team and the parents and carers. It also enables us to show you what your child is doing at school which will give you opportunities to extend their learning at home.
