To meet the needs and interests of all pupils, we have adopted a whole school topic approach. These topics are on a 3-year rolling programme and encompass a broad spectrum of themes.
The topic approach also provides a variety of contexts for pupils to reinforce and consolidate their skills, whilst ensuring there are opportunities for enquiry, independent investigation and learning. We use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) as a framework throughout these topics and to provide breadth and coverage of the National Curriculum (where relevant).
Each Key Stage follows a long-term plan which ensures a wide range of learning experiences and opportunities throughout each child’s school journey.
Medium term plans are developed by the class teacher and tailored to suit the needs and interests of each specific class. They outline the learning intentions for each area of learning. These are shared with parents each term so that they can support their child at home.
